New Delhi: Purani Dilli 6 bounced back from two consecutive losses with a convincing seven-wicket win over West Delhi Lions in their third match of the Adani Delhi Premier League T20 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, August 21.

Purani Dilli 6 opted to bowl first after winning the toss, and their decision paid off as they restricted West Delhi Lions to 141/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Laxman led the charge with an impressive spell, taking 3/41, while Aayush Singh Thakur provided crucial support with figures of 2/27. West Delhi Lions struggled from the outset, losing early wickets and never fully recovering.

West Delhi Lions’ batting woes began immediately when opener Ankit Kumar was dismissed for a duck by Lalit Yadav in the very first over. Anmol Sharma (1) followed soon after, falling to Aayush Singh Thakur, leaving West Delhi Lions reeling at 7/3 within just 2.2 overs. Captain Hrithik Shokeen and Dev Lakra tried to steady the ship, contributing 28 and 26 runs, respectively. However, late contributions from Ekansh (34 off 14) and Tishant Dabla (23 off 9) helped West Delhi Lions reach a modest total of 141/9.

Purani Dilli 6’s chase started aggressively, with opener Arpit Rana anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 56 off 43 balls. Despite a couple of quick wickets in the middle overs, including Sanat Sangwan (22 off 25) and Lalit Yadav (7 off 9), Rana’s consistency kept the chase on track. Alongside him, Vansh Bedi’s late 30 off 18 balls ensured Purani Dilli 6 crossed the line comfortably in 17.1 overs.

Purani Dilli 6 got off to a flying start in the powerplay, reaching 56/1 in the first six overs. Although Manjeet was dismissed early, Rana and Bedi finished the job with ease, securing the team’s first win of the season.

West Delhi Lions’ bowlers struggled to maintain pressure, with Hasan Mahmud’s 2/33 being the only notable contribution. Despite early breakthroughs, their efforts couldn’t hold back Purani Dilli 6’s determined chase.

This win is a significant boost for Purani Dilli 6, who had lost their opening two games. Their bowling attack showed resilience, and Rana’s match-winning knock came at a crucial moment, helping them bounce back in style.
